October Goals

It’s been awhile since I have written my monthly goals post – July’s Taking a Break.

This month, I’m feeling a lot of overwhelm as we experience many chances in different areas of our live, and my darn basement still is not organized – I actually think it’s the worst it’s ever been.

This month, I’m reevaluating my prioritizes, creating some creative strategies to achieve my goals, and being honest about my lack of time management.

While it may seem silly, or overtly type A, to really pause and evaluate every month, I think it helps me focus and be happier with the decisions I am making day to day.

It can be really easy to get swept up in the flow of life, and get out of touch with our long-term goals, our real priorities, and even our happiness. I can’t tell you how many times a week has flown by and I’ve realized I’ve blown our budget because I wasn’t organized, or I didn’t make special time to really connect with Ella — and totally forget about me doing anything for myself.

All of these things are important to me, but they require intention, and if I’m just living day to day, trying to keep up with a gaggle of kids, and going through the motions, it is easy to let these priorities slip past me.

Do you ever feel that way?

Setting goals is part of living a life you love - living with intention, following through with your plans, and achieving your goals.

This month, I am relying on a bit more structure to help me.

I am not a routined person. I know the value of routine, and I work really hard to incorporate routine into Ella’s day, but I personally can be all over the place. (Or at least feel that way.)

This is something about myself that I’ve tried to overcome and work against, and I think it is time that I started working with it. I know that setting timers for tasks is a good habit, but my perfectionist tendency is still to ignore the timer and continue with a task until I deem it to be done – or a more urgent interruption (like a waking child) ends the task. That isn’t working.

Also, I need to give myself a bit of grace, and indulge myself with the occasional babysitter, or bringing work to Ella’s soccer practice and not feeling bad about not spending the whole time focusing on the field. (It used to be that the parents who stayed were the minority, and now it seems like all parents stay and watch the whole time. Our culture has definitely changed in this regard.)

My goals for October:

  1. Reassess our yearly budget – are we on track? What can I adjust to get back on track?
  2. Deep clean the house (essential winter preparation)
  3. Set a schedule for my work tasks
  4. Find 3 tasks I can delegate or hire out
  5. Start meal planning again

to see if it can survive a 30 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now
destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is totally
off topic but I had to share it with someone!

  2. How precise a website owner can know of my location when I
visit their website? Do they just get my IP address or can they see my house?
They get your IP and approximate location of you internet service provider but not
your exact address, that info is only known to your IPS.
If concerned about it and want to change you IP address then get a VPN.

THere are free like the Epic Privacy Browser,Opera browser,Psiphon,ProtonVPN,and Hotspot Shield
    to name a few.
