We’re interrupting our usual schedule of kids’ activities, positive parenting inspiration, and family-friendly food to bring you 31 days of Kids Kitchen Recipes and Activities.

Today, Marie from Child Led Life is sharing an Easy Apple Pie with Kids (check out our fool-proof Apple Pie Recipe here, too) so we thought we’d share another delicious kid-made dessert, Homemade Cinnamon Bun Crackers.

Homemade Cinnamon Bun Crackers - a gorgeous, delicious, and EASY snack - perfect for serving with coffee. So easy to make, the kids can make them!

Similar to our Homemade Cheese Crackers, these Cinnamon Bun Crackers are only a few ingredients and rely on butter puff pastry for ease.

We’ve tried these crackers two different ways — just cinnamon and pecans, and then cinnamon-sugar, pecans, and a bit of glaze. Both options are amazing, it just depends on how decadent you want to go!

Start off by rolling out the dough to a 1/8″ thickness. You can add a thin layer of butter or coconut oil for the cinnamon (or cinnamon sugar) to stick to, but we had no issues getting it to stick ourselves.

Sprinkle the dough generously with cinnamon, leaving about 1″ all around the edge of the dough bare for a cleaner cracker rolling experience.

A mortar and pestle is one of our top 40 kids' kitchen tools

Crush a few handfuls of pecans in a mortar and pestle or food processor and sprinkle them over the cinnamon layer. (Check out our practical life lesson on teaching children how to use a mortar and pestle if you decide to go that route.)

Elephant ear homemade crackers - cinnamon bun crackers are so easy to make, and delicious!

Roll two opposite sides of the crackers towards the center to create two “dough logs” that meet up in the center. They should look like this when cut to a 1/4″ thickness.

Homemade cracker recipe - cinnamon bun crackers are so simple and easy to make, they are my go-to snack when having friends over for coffee!

Place on a silicone baking mat or parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake at 350F for 10-12 minutes, until the puff pastry is golden brown.

If you are adding the optional glaze, mix 1/2 cup of icing sugar with 1 Tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 Tablespoon milk, and thin it out to the desired consistency before drizzling over the cooled crackers.
