Hazelnut Coffee Scrub
Last year, I shared my Energizing Coffee Sugar Scrub and it was such a hit I asked my friend, Shelby, to come up with a new twist – and she whipped up this Hazelnut Vanilla Coffee Scrub for dry, winter skin!
DIY Coffee Scrub Recipe
This is a guest post written by my friend, Shelby from Fit as a Mama Bear.
Does anyone else open the bag of new coffee, take a big whiff and feel at peace with the world? Well I do and this particular coffee body scrub makes me feel like that every time I use it!
Body scrub is the easiest, most cost effective pampering product you can make at home. And coffee body scrub is not only super cheap but effective too! This particular body scrub is a great exfoliate but also a spectacular moisturizer. And because it’s coffee based it gives you a nice little “pick me up” when you use it!
This coffee scrub is magnificent on particularly dry skin – and since I love in Canada (where it’s just a wee bit cold) I prefer to use it in the dry winter months to prevent my skin cracking. I find it works particularly well on my legs and arms and wouldn’t suggest using this on your face if you’re prone to oily skin. (And another bonus: you can just keep it in your bathroom vanity, it doesn’t need to stay in the fridge!)
Traditionally, most homemade scrubs use a salt or sugar base however I find salt to be a bit too harsh on my skin and while sugar is nice coffee is more effective (and that heavenly smell sways me!). The coffee base is the perfect mixture: a great exfoliate but not abrasive. And thanks to the oil your skin will be silky smooth when you’re finished!
